The federal judiciary reported growth in both major consumer chapters. Chapter 7 remained the larger filing category, while Chapter 13 continued to account for a substantial share of the national total. Business filings and Chapter 11 filings also increased.
The federal release provides a national picture, then directs readers to additional judiciary tables for more detailed breakdowns by filing type, reporting period, and county. That distinction matters when attorneys compare national activity with the conditions in the markets they serve.
For a law firm, these figures are a market reference point rather than a substitute for a local capacity plan. A workable lead plan still depends on the matters a firm wants to handle, its coverage area, and how quickly its intake team can respond.
